We often talk about women in terms of resilience: how we endure, survive, and recover. But what about the risks women take? The borders we cross, the conventions we challenge, the journeys we undertake without knowing where they will lead?
I am delighted to share that on September 23, I’ll be exploring a theme that runs quietly through much of my memoir, Writing in the Wound: women as risk-takers.
I’ll read from a chapter about my journey from #Karachi to #Mumbai—including the story of how I managed to obtain an Indian visa, notoriously difficult for Pakistani citizens and particularly challenging when travelling independently, that made this journey possible.
Writing in the Wound moves repeatedly through such thresholds—across cities, countries, institutions, and uncertain forms of belonging.
On September 23, I want to share one of those crossings and reflect on risk-taking as part of women’s agency, curiosity, and becoming.
